AVA Summer Awards 2015

Great times on the beach every summer!  And today we recognize those that contributed their version of summer fun.  Players voted on the following awards (note: Sandman Award is nominated by coaches).  The Sandman Award is given to the player with the most hustle -- often times this person will dive so much that they bring home loads of sand in all sorts of cracks & crevices!  The Most Improved Player Award is not an easy award to get - given that EVERYONE improves on the beach (b/c of all the extra touches in beach doubles).  There's the Favorite Coach Award which is easy to vote for but hard to win -- there's lots of positive youth coaches that are deserving.  The Favorite Partner award is a true compliment - we switch partners constantly so there's so many to choose from, but ultimately players enjoy playing with partners that are positive with mistakes and hustle a lot.

Phoebe is the coaches vote for the Sandman Award -- her hustle is second to none.  She's always willing to run down her partner's shanks and give her best defensive effort.

Austin improved his serving & passing this summer, but mostly it was a noticeable improvement on attacking!

Coach Marty has a great rapport with players - coaching is in his blood (Marty's brother coaches sand vb at UW)

Emma has a great work ethic - one that every notices.  She also puts a positive spin on her partners mistakes.
