History of AVA

Aloha Volleyball Association has a history of improving it's community:
  • 2004 - AVA runs it's first events ever (tourneys & beginner adult classes) - to fundraise for a new net at Kam I Beach in Kihei. Since then, AVA has funded nets, lines and equipment for all the County sand courts
  • 2005 - AVA starts the first youth Sand Volleyball Camp with an attendance of 5 bold middle schoolers
  • 2006 - AVA continues to grow
  • 2007 - AVA starts offering free and open tournaments to the public (and has continued offering over 25+ tourneys per year across 6 age and gender divisions)
  • 2008 - AVA heads up the construction of 2 lighted Kalama Sand Courts
  • 2009 - AVA's Sand Volleyball Camp reaches capacity at 100 members:
  • 2010 - AVA continues to grow
  • 2011 - AVA builds 2 more courts at Kanaha (1 was assisted from the Tsunami)
  • 2012 - AVA decides to push forward on building a sand facility. AVA director, Scottie Zucco, motivates himself by starting a "goal-beard" (no goal no shave)
  • 2013 - The goal beard grows...
  • 2014 - And grows....
  • 2015 - The facility is legal!
  • 2016 - Added the 4th court - time to shave the beard!
  • 2017 - Moved around the courts for optimal fit
  • 2018 - Facility closed.  Landlords of the facility wanted to move in a different direction
  • 2019 - Beach program moved to Kanaha
  • 2020 - Covid-19 shuts down sports :(
  • 2021 - Looking for a new facility
